Installing the Stuv 30 Wood Stove

The boys have been busy during the past couple of weeks installing wood stoves all over the South of England. Last week one of our teams put in a Stuv 30 wood stove with a green facade.

The job involved creating the area for the stove to be placed in, installing a flue liner, fitting the Stuv 30 stove and installing the Stuv facia that comes with the fire. The flue liner was installed through chimney, and we connected the flue liner to the stove and to the cowling at the end. The stove has an external air lot which brings in combustion air from outside directly to the stove meaning that there is no cold air in the room. All the flue is hidden making this an extremely neat stove.

This client chose a green facade to surround the Stuv 30, but these come in numerous colours to suit any colour scheme.

The Stuv 30 is an excellent stove because it can be left to burn overnight with the door closed, but can also be used as a traditional woodburner as well as an open fire when the door is open. It is also an extremely efficient stove that makes a profound statement in any room and certainly will be the focal point!

If you would like more information on this stove or any other Stuv please call us and we are happy to help.

Making a Focal Point with a Charnwood Stove

We have installed this beautiful Charnwood Country 4 Stove this week and are very pleased with the outcome. What it shows clearly is that with the right stove a room becomes transformed and will add value to your home.

I know this from personal experience having revolutionised my 1960's lounge to a place of solace when Bradley Stoves Sussex put in our wood stove. Not only was the woodburner beautiful, but the boys built a new chimney breast and granite hearth, not too dissimilar to the one in this article. Watching the flickering flames whilst curled up on the sofa never ceases to bring enjoyment, and I have been grateful for these dull cold May evenings because we can still use the stove.

If you want to upgrade your home simply then it is worth investing in a woodburner.

Chimney Liner Experts Climb Heights when fitting Charnwood C-Six!

At Bradley Stoves Sussex we don't just sell stoves, we also install them. And we were fortunate last week to have a beautiful day as we set about fitting a Charnwood C-Six here in West Sussex because the chimney was a little higher than we normally work with! We used a triple extended rope ladder to provide access to the chimney so that we could fit the correct insulated flue liner for the fire. As soon as Dave got the liner through we attached the adaptor to the flex amd secured the liner at the top and the bottom. A steel plate was also fitted to the inglenook along with Supaux boarding, which is 15mm thick and fireproof.

You can fit a liner yourself, but you will need the job to be signed off by your local building inspector. Lining a chimney is an expert job and if it is not done properly then you could cause a fire or even death. All our fitters are HETAS qualified and trained

Charnwood Country 4 Stove Successfully Installed!

We have been busy beavering away fitting stoves all over the country! Last week this beautiful Charnwood Country 4 stove was fitted by us, along with the gorgeous granite hearth.

Putting this stove in was quite an extensive job because we had to rebuild the chimney and reline it with a class one flue liner. We also fitted a bird guard rain cap to not only prevent rain entering the flue, but also to stop birds nesting (certainly a potential problem at this time of year!).

This has been another successful installation by us and illustrates what a stunning wood stove the Country 4 is. Well done lads in helping get this job done so well!

We fitted a beautiful inset stove in Cranleigh yesterday. The Hunter Cleanburn Sonderskoven looks fantastic and makes a real feature of this room. The Hunter Sonderskoven has a high heat output of between 7 and 10kW, with a large firebox to keep the stove burning for longer. However, this stove is family friendly as it has a cool touch feature and combines a traditional look with state of the art functionality.

Our client was very happy with their new stove, which unfortunately cannot be bought online, but is available from our showroom near Horsham, West Sussex.

How Often Should I Sweep My Chimney?

With spring in the air and the evenings getting warmer it will soon be time to think about having your chimney swept. A chimney should be swept at least once a year, but if you are burning for long periods then we would recommend that you sweep it at least twice. The condition of your chimney will relate to the wood that you are burning, so always ensure that is well seasoned.

Make sure that you employ a reputable chimney sweep because he will be able to advise you if you have any tar building up, or if you have had any chimney fires. You should also keep an eye on your rope seals to ensure that you are not getting a build up of soot in those areas.

If you don't keep your chimney swept you might end up with a chimney fire, as the guys in this picture might have had had they not had their chimney swept!

Transforming a Home with a Wood Stove

At Bradley Stoves Sussex we are proud of how we can make a house a home. Recently we installed this Stûv 21 double faced inset stove and completely transformed two rooms.

Our brief was to remove the old fire place, rebuild the surround and install a double sided Stuv inset stove. We constructed a new fire place, relined the chimney, put in the Stûv 21 wood stove, and then replastered the chimney breast that we had created. We also fitted a modern hearth to provide a contemporary look and once the wall was painted the room looked modern, larger and stunning.

At Bradley Stoves we regularly construct or alter fire places for our customers to show case their woodburners. For many this means constructing a chimney breast, but we have professional builders and plasterers who can not only build smooth walls, but will also fit mantlepieces.

We are always happy to discuss your ideas and help you to choose the best stove for your home. Do feel free to give us a call or contact us.

Woodburning or Multi-fuel Stove?

What a difficult question for those of us who do not know quite what to invest in! As a former open fire owner I had great experience in burning smokeless fuel, but now that I am a wood stove convert I have not even thought about converting my stove to facilitate using the different types of multi-fuel available, but am I wrong?

Steve O'Reilly, owner of Bradley Stoves Sussex, gives his personal take on wood versus multi-fuels:

"Personally I use wood in my stove at home. There is a large choice of wood on the market, but finding seasoned wood can be difficult because the last couple of years have been so wet. Moisture in the air is slowing down the seasoning of wood, and having dry wood to burn in your stove is essential."

"Notwithstanding finding dry wood, or having somewhere to store your timber until it is sufficiently dry enough to burn (and if you don't have a moisture meter I would leave it for at least 18 months), then I would always choose wood. That's because if you use your initiative there is a lot of wood to be found and I would have to buy in smokeless fuel, which can be expensive. I would certainly not recommend buying wood from a local garage as their prices are astronomical, but get in touch with tree surgeons, builders, roofers, gardeners, kitchen and furniture manufacturers, or people who have access to woodland, and see if you can negotiate a good deal or even get wood for free!"

"Smokeless fuel may be expensive, but it does burn slightly hotter (due to less moisture) and for longer, so if your fire is to be used overnight then this might be something to consider. There is a wealth of fuel available for the multi-fuel stove including paper brickets, elephant grass logs, hotties logs and others use smokeless fuel. You can also burn wood on multi-fuel stoves, but as they are more expensive then it is better to purchase a woodburner instead."

This advice was why I bought a wood stove rather than a multi-fuel burner, and we regularly have friends arriving with boots and trailers filled with trees that they have chopped down, so we haven't bought any wood for 4 years! This has certainly helped to bring a quicker pay back on our investment, but we do have the space for a wood store, which we made ourselves from some posts, trellis, chipboard and felt!

We do have a large range of wood stoves and multi-fuel stoves to suit all budgets, and we also stock hotties that are perfect for using on your multi-fuel burner.

It might be snowing outside, but we are warm and cosy here at Bradley Stoves Sussex with our woodburners roaring radiating heat and cosiness. I have spent this morning trawling the net to see if the Cast Tec Firemaster 5 can be bought anywhere cheaper, but despite concerted effort this stove is definitely the cheapest around. And although it has been in the showroom, for all intents and purposes it is a new wood stove, that will look perfect in a home.

What Makes a Good Quality Wood Stove?

Wood stoves tend be manufactured from steel or cast iron, or both. There are differences between the materials and do need to be considered when thinking about what type of stove to buy.

Cast iron is a material that holds heat longer than steel, which is useful if you have a colder property and want more heat from your wood stove. However, if the stove cracks in any way then repairing a cast iron stove can be problematic.

Steel stoves retain less heat, but in the UK climate this is not really an issue. Steel is also easier to fix should it crack, although today's woodburners are well made and rarely have problems. In fact many manufacturers make their stoves from steel and cast iron because they retain the heat whilst being simpler to repair.

Charnwood and Woodwarm are particularly efficient wood stoves and are manufactured using both steel and cast iron. They can be used to warm a room and can be left burning over night to make sure that you have a warm welcome in the morning.

Do I need a chimney liner with my wood stove?

This is a frequently asked question by our customers here at Bradley Stoves Sussex Ltd. It is also a subject of great discussion on the internet where you will often find advice telling you that you don't need to have a liner if you are installing a woodburner.

There isn't anything that Steve O'Reilly, Director of Bradley Stoves, doesn't know about stoves and installing them so here is his advice on the matter:

"If you install a controllable wood stove, which most are these days, then you absolutely must have a chimney liner. This is because tar is produced by the smoke as it condensates. Woodburners can produce a lot of tar because of their low-burn ability and because the chimney is cold (most of the heat is returned to the room rather than going up the chimney as with a conventional open fire). The liner is specifically designed to bring the tar back into the stove to re-burn, which prevents a number of problems from the internal staining of walls to chimney fires."

So if you are buying a woodburner then it is likely that you will need to line your chimney as today's stoves are primarily controllable.

Steve O'Reilly - the Wood Stove Expert

Knowing which woodburner to buy and who to source it from is a challenge. And it's not as if investing in a wood stove is a cheap option, it's not. You can spend anything from £450 to £2400 for a stove, and then you have the fitting costs. So why go to Bradley Stoves Sussex?

Well Bradley Stoves Sussex is a family run company and its owner, Steve O'Reilly, has been in the wood stove business since he was a young man (working in his father's woodburner shop).
Charnwood C-Eight Stove Now Available!

The Charnwood C-Eight wood stove is one of the newer stoves from Charnwood. This British made stove is not only beautiful, but highly practical as it produces a heat output of 8.3kW and is 75% efficient! With such a stunning design this wood stove would look good in either a traditional or modern home and at only £1200 it is a real bargain.

The reason the Charnwood C-Eight appeals so much to me (and now that I've seen it I want one!) is because there is the potential of harnessing the heat to run hot water or a couple of radiators without ruining the purpose of the stove in the first place. The Charnwood flue boiler really does help to reduce fuel bills, and with the cost of gas and oil rising this is worth considering. It is the biggest of the C-series but if you have the space for the stove it is an excellent price when you compare it against some of the other wood stoves with the same heat output. And with the choice of colours the C-eight stove would be a strong focal point in any room.

We also offer the flue liner that goes with the stove and currently are offering a free Carbon Monoxide monitor with every purchase.

For more information on the Charnwood C-eight view it online or visit our showroom in Horsham, West Sussex.

How to Reduce Your Gas Bill with a Wood Stove!

Trying to reduce your gas bill is always a challenge! Especially if, like me, you have children, and you feel the cold. The student days of wearing a coat and mittens in the house no longer appeal to me, I want to be warm whatever the weather is like outside! But I also want to keep my fuel bills down, especially as gas prices seem to be increasing annually.

Of course there are the obvious things that you can do to decrease your gas bills. Insulating your house certainly is effective, as is running your hot water at a slightly lower temperature. Closing your curtains at dusk to prevent heat escaping through the window can help, as can opening the doors of rooms that get the sun and therefore are warmer. Then you can turn the thermostat down by 1°C (although that one has never really appealed to me, but is an option!) and ensure that furniture and your curtains don't prevent the heat from circulating.

We monitor our gas usage annually and look at how much it costs us. I know that this might seem a bit sad, but it certainly is helpful to see how small changes made can reduce your gas bill! However, the most significant contribution to reducing the cost of our gas bill has been our Woodwarm Fireview Slender wood stove. This is only a small woodburner, with a heat output of 6kW, but it has a 24kW boiler attached to it and this has reduced our gas bill by £70 per month! And we only have the fire going from 4pm in the afternoon until 11pm at night, and I confess that this isn't even on every day!

Admittedly there was the intial outlay to buy the wood stove and have it put in (although working for Bradley Stoves Sussex does have its advantages), and of course we do have to consider the cost of the fuel. However, having had the house extended and trees cut down we have had a bountiful supply of wood at no cost to ourselves as yet and the fire has transformed our lounge. The reason for installing a wood stove had nothing to do with fuel economy for me, it was purely aesthetics, but when I realised that the wood stove would run the underfloor heating for me it did bias my choice of stove (and Woodwarm stoves are extremely efficient when it comes to heating water).

So if you are looking at ways to reduce your gas bill then wood stove can be of use and once it is installed it is guaranteed to work efficiently for a significant number of years. At Bradley Stoves we have an enormous range of woodburners and multi-fuel stoves with boilers so why not look online or visit our showroom in Sussex for more advice.

Wood Stove or Multifuel Stove - What's the Difference?

This is a question that we are often asked here at Bradley Stoves - what is the difference between a wood stove and a multifuel burner (or stove)? Let's see if we can provide an answer!

The wood stove, as the name suggests, can only burn wood. The stove has a static fire grate (i.e. no moving parts) or it might burn straight off the base (sometimes in this situation it is best to lay a bed of sand first as a base so as not to damage the bottom of the stove). The wood sits on a bed of ash and the air circulates over it.

Wood is an excellent fuel and provides the best flame effect. Wood stoves also do not need to be emptied so often, and the sound and smell of wood burning enhances the experience of sitting in front of the stove.

A multifuel burner or stove can, as the name suggests, burn a selection of fuel including wood and smokeless coal. The fire grate can have moving parts, known as a riddling grate, or it can have a static grate with holes in. Generally wood stoves take air from above and coal would take air from below. Wood needs to burn on a bed of ash taking its heat from the ash and air from above and coal needs to have nothing below (requiring a grate or riddler to remove the embers) as it burns from air below.

Many stoves are sold as a woodburner (with no grate) because you can always add a grate to burn smokeless fuel later. Quite a few manufacturers offer static or riddling grates as optional however at Bradley Stoves many of our customers have preferred to keep their stoves as woodburners only (stoves are also cheaper if they burn wood only!).

The biggest problem with a woodburning stove is getting access to dry fuel. Many suppliers offer seasoned wood, but in reality this turns out to be quite wet and causes problems when burning (if you can get it burning in the first place!). At Bradley Stoves we sell Hotties, which are 2% moisture and are excellent to burn. We also provide kiln dry timber, which makes perfect fuels. We know of a couple of local log suppliers here in West Sussex who provide very good seasoned logs, and we are certain that you will have local suppliers of wood where you live, but do check because it will affect the efficiency of your stove and can cause problems with your chimney. With the correct fuel your stove should burn very clean.

Household coal cannot be burnt on multi-fuel stoves and will invalidate most stainless liners. Smokeless fuels (most types) are suitable for multi-fuel stoves, but please check when buying it that it is ok (you can find information from www.hetas.org). Alternatively your stove manufacturer will list recommended products. Smokeless fuel generally burns slightly hotter than wood and lasts longer, which means that it is good if you wish to leave your stove burning overnight. Smokeless fuel is useful if your multifuel stove has a small burn area, or has a tall grate leaving a small area, as burning wood would leave you too small an area to fill up meaning only kindling or very small logs could burn and these would not last very long.

One problem with not removing embers with smokeless fuel burning is that the grate can burn out. When burning smokeless fuel always clear away the embers to allow air to reach the base and prevent the fuel on top of grate and embers below to fuse and burn out the grate bars.

Please feel free to browse through our range of woodstoves or multi-fuel burners and do call our showroom if you need any further information.

Beat the January Blues with a Wood Stove

I don't know about you, but January is my least favourite month of the year. Not only are the nights still dark, but the excitement of Christmas is over and there is only the prospect of snow to look forward to. However, as a wood stove owner there is a benefit to this time of year, and that is sitting in with friends round the woodburner.

You cannot beat the ambience of a woodburner, I have had an open fire, and it is lovely, but our wood stove is certainly warmer and more efficient. It is a Woodwarm Fireview and has the ability to run our underfloor heating successfully as well as heating our lounge. This has significantly cut our gas bills and there is talk of upgrading the stove so that we might generate more heat to run upstairs heating as well! However, the wood stove was not installed for economic reasons (although it has made a significant contribution to our fuel bills!). It was bought to provide a focal point in the room. Our home is a 1960's bland property, at least it was until Bradley Stoves came along and transformed our lounge into a place of calm and beauty. Admittedly we helped with the oak engineering flooring (which seems to work better with underfloor water heating), but Bradley Stoves built us a chimney breast that gave our plain room character and then by adding in an oak mantlelpiece and a woodburner, the room was transformed.

So Bradley Stoves aren't just approved contractors for wood stoves. Of course there is nothing that Steve O'Reilly doesn't know about stoves, but they will help to utilise the beauty of a stove to add value to your home. The simple addition of a woodburner really does make a difference. It is a superb focal point and statement feature. And there are now so many stoves to choose from, and the days of sooty glass are long gone, today's wood stoves are efficient and clean. So whether you have a contemporary home like ours, or whether you have a more traditional setting then there is definitely a woodburner that will suit your environment.

Why not chat to Bradley Stoves today to see how they can help you to reduce your fuel bills and increase the value of your home.

Free Carbon Monoxide Detector from Wood Stove specialists!

Bradley Stoves Sussex Ltd are offering free Carbon Monoxide detectors with every stove sold through www.woodburners.co.uk. The Carbon Monoxide alarms are required to be fitted every time a new wood stove is installed to protect from lethal gases. Of course if Bradley Stoves Sussex, who are HETAS registered and approved installers for all of the stoves, install your woodburner then your stove will be fitted correctly, but if it isn't then you could be in danger.

Carbon Monoxide is an odourless, tasteless, and colourless gas that can be produced from incomplete combustion. The first sign that you have a problem is a headache, but by this stage you may be feeling a little confused, which means you probably won't get the help that you need.

To ensure that you avoid suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning it is essential that the stove you invest in has a CE mark i.e. a mark that shows that the manufacture declares it meets the Standards that make it fit for sale throughout Europe.

The stove must also be properly installed and that the installation complies with Building Regulations. Interestingly if the stove does not comply then your home insurance might well be invalidated. However, unless your stove is installed by expert contractors then it is possible that you increase your risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

It is also important to ensure that your chimney is regularly swept and that there is enough ventilation in the room to prevent any possiblility of Carbon Monoxide building up.

So having a Carbon Monoxide alarm is an excellent investment, so why not take advantage of Bradley Stoves' special offer, particularly as their stoves are superbly priced and will be installed by experts.

How to make a Home Festive

It's that time of year when you are probably thinking about how to make your home festive. There will be the annual jaunt up that part of the loft where you pack your Christmas decorations away each year, and perhaps a trip to town (or on the internet) to find something new to add cheer and that Christmassy feel! So here a few tips to add the sense of Christmas to your home:

Make your entrance festive by putting up a bought wreath, or by making one yourself with craft wire and twigs. Add a red ribbon, some decorations and some holly and immediately your home feels welcoming.

Put a tealight in a jam jar. Tie some rafia around the outside of the jar and tie on a Christmas tree decoration. This will really make your doorstep look welcoming at night when you light it.

Use scented cinnamon, frankinsence and myrhh candles to add that glorious smell of Christmas.

Decorate your mantelpiece with fairy lights, greenery and decorative letters to spell out festive words such as Joy, Peace, or Christmas.

Choose a colour theme and place decorations in that colour throughout the house.

Place a centre-piece in the middle of your table that is beautiful and decorative.

Use a festive fire screen, such as the Jolly Santa fire screen or the Santa and Friends fire screen to really add a sense of excitement to your home.

However you choose to decorate your home we wish you all a very merry Christmas.

The Charnwood C-Four Stove - Still Proving Popular

The Charnwood C-Four is still one of Bradley Stove Sussex's best selling stoves. This is because it is a beautiful wood stove and highly affordable. All Charnwood stoves come in a range of colours, which means that they will fit most settings, and the C-Four comes either with a log store or on legs.

The charm of this particular wood stove is its clean lines and the combination of both modern with traditional. So the C-Four looks almost traditional, but has a modern twist so that the stove could work well in a contemporary home. With a heat output of 4.9kW it could be used for primary heating in a small room, or could supplement existing heating in a larger area. And being DEFRA exempt it is a wood burner that can be used in a smoke control zone.

You can buy your Charnwood C-Four stove from us with confidence because we are an approved supplier for Charnwood and can provide expert advice should you require any after you purchase your stove. So why not enjoy this winter with a delightful Charnwood C-Four and spend happy evenings relaxing by your fire?

Why use an Approved Supplier when buying a Wood Stove?

You might be wondering how is it that certain internet stores can sell wood stoves much cheaper than others. Sometimes it is because they do buy in bulk, but normally the manufacturer sets a limit on the amount a stove can be discounted and checks to see that the supplier is following the conditions set! However, if a seller is not an approved supplier then the stove can be offered at whatever price the seller chooses.

What's wrong with that you might ask? Well I guess in times of economic hardship then supply and demand always wins out, but what about the economic principle of short term cost versus long term gain?

Buying from an approved contractor gives you peace of mind. You can feel confident that they have earned this status because they are experienced, trained, skilled and able to provide long term support. There isn't anything that Steve O'Reilly, owner of Bradley Stoves, doesn't know about woodburners. He's been working in this line of work for years, which is why people travel from all over the country to buy from him.

"I know that it is tempting to put price first when choosing a wood stove," said Steve.

"However, you have to ask yourself why the stove is so cheap and what the aftercare will be like should you need it!. You don't want to spend a couple of thousand pounds on a woodburner only to find that should you need future help or advice regarding the stove you can't get it!".

At woodburners.co.uk we pride ourselves in not only being approved suppliers of the main brands of wood stoves, but we also have the expertise to install the stove. We can also give you advice on what stove is right for your home, which is why people travel to Horsham to buy their stoves from us.

So why not visit our showroom and see how we can help to make your house a warm, welcoming home with a woodburner.

Fuel Bills to Rise - Time to Get a Wood Stove!

With shocking announcements that energy bills will rise between 6 and 9% this winter it is certainly time to invest in a wood stove. A woodburner can cut gas bills significantly, particularly if installed with a boiler, and although there is the initial outlay for the cost of the stove and the installation a wood stove will bring enjoyment, value and beauty to your home.

The news has brought nothing but doom and gloom regarding gas bills. Southern and Scottish Electric have already increased their prices by 9% at the beginning of this month, and British Gas will be imposing a price rise of 6% on 16th November. Npower have also announced an increase of 9.1% on 26th November and on 3rd December Scottish Power introduce their 7% rise. These figures are well above inflation and it is quite likely that next winter the energy giants will decide to put prices up again, causing more misery for many.

With a wood stove there is the on-going cost of fuelling it, but they are extremely efficient and logs can be bought in bulk, cutting costs. Once installed the wood stove will look after itself. The more modern stoves are so efficient that they are extremely clean, but we would still recommend having your chimney swept annually. And wood stoves are beautiful! The days of sooty and ugly cast iron woodburners are long gone, with stove manufacturers priding themselves in producing efficient stoves that keep the glass clean, providing an excellent view of the fire. With prices as low as £463.20 for a compact wood stove then this is the ideal time to become more independent of the energy companies by installing a woodburner.

Should I buy a wood stove?

As the nights draw in you may be deliberating whether or not to invest in a wood stove. It might seem like an expensive item, but you will be surprised at how efficient wood stoves are these days. Technology has moved on and your memories of sooty glass and ugly stoves are doing you no favours whatsoever.

Why should you buy a wood stove? Because they are such an asset, particularly if you add a boiler to the wood stove and use the heat to power your hot water, radiators, or underfloor heating. The heat generated by a woodburner can be as little as 4kW, but can be up to 14kW, and many stoves e.g. the Woodwarm range. Many stoves will work well at heating a room as well as providing additional heat for the heating system and as energy bills rise, and look set to rise, using an alternative means of generating heat is definitely an advantage.

At our house we have a Woodwarm Fireview Slender stove. This is a 6kW stove that warms not only our lounge, but provides heat to our heat bank (not quite a hot water tank, but a place to store your heat energy until it is needed!). Since installing our wood stove we have cut our gas bills by two-thirds. This has been a significant reduction and certainly the stove has paid for itself. Not only do we have the pleasure of a woodburning stove, and it truly has brought hours of pleasure, but each time I light it I know that I am saving money! It's a win win situation.

So if you have any doubts about having a wood stove then don't even entertain them! A woodburner is a real asset. It looks beautiful, adds value to your home, and pays for itself!

Steve at Bradley Stoves really can help you to choose the ideal stove for your home. Having worked in the industry for the past 20 years there isn't anything that he doesn't know about woodburners, so why not come in and see the range of stoves at our showroom in Slinfold, Sussex and find the wood stove for you.

A wood stove that looks like an open fire - Stuv 21

If you would like to keep the appeal of an open fire, but maintain the efficiency of a wood stove then the Stuv 21 could be your answer. Here at Bradley Stoves we have been coveting this particular Stuv stove as it is so cleverly made and makes such an impact. And because of its design it really will suit a modern home or a more traditional setting.

The way in which the Stuv 21 stove is designed means that it has a retractable door that can slide upwards and be hidden behind the masonary. Then the fire becomes an open fire and you can toast marshmellows or chestnuts on it, and watch the flames flickering. However, when the glass door is lowered the fire becomes efficient, just as a woodburner is, and because the glass door is so large you are still afforded an excellent view of the flames.

Fortunately the Stuv 21 comes in different shapes and sizes to suit every home and with the heat output from the stove ranging from 11 to 22kW (depending on the size of the stove) then the Stuv 21 will not only look stunning, but will heat a room superbly, far better than the open fire. So with this make of Stuv you really do get the best of both worlds with excellent efficiency without having to sacrifice the open fire.

At Bradley Stoves we are approved suppliers of Stuv stoves and can certainly help you to choose the right fire for your home, and we'll be able to install it professionally, with technical support being there at the end of the phone should you need it. So if you would like to warm up your home this autumn then why not pay us a visit in Slinfold near Horsham, West Sussex and let us introduce you to the beauty of Stuv stoves.

Santa Firescreen perfect for Christmas

I know that it is not even October yet, but with the grim weather, and the leaves turning, your thoughts might just be turning towards Christmas. I don't know about you, but I like to plan ahead just so that I can enjoy the festive season and all the joy that comes with it. And it's not just about cards and presents (and celebrating Jesus' birthday of course), but it is about seeing friends and family and good times around the woodburner or fire.

If you have children at your house, or visiting you, then we have 2 wonderful firescreens to set the Christmas scene. Both of these are fabulous and add that magic touch to your home. They really are scene stealers and will add to the excitement of the season. Both screens have Santa prominently displayed and will appeal to all ages.

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas for me without a wood stove and if you buy one now you will be able to have it installed by Christmas! What could be better than opening presents infront of a roaring fire? For me the woodburner is almost as important as the tree for encouraging an ambience of peace and tranquility. At Bradley Stoves we do have a superb range of wood stoves to choose from and certainly we will have one that will suit not only your home, but your budget. So why not make Christmas even more festive with a Santa Firescreen or even a new wood stove?

Ash Vacuum Cleaner makes Wood Stove Cleaning Easier!

The ash vacuum cleaner certainly makes emptying your wood stove's grate easier. Not only does it cut down on the mess, but it also saves time. With its Fire Retardant Primary Filter, a cleaning rod and pliable filters you can clean your wood stove without removing the vacuum's lid. The ash vacuum is specifically designed to remove warm or cold ash, although hot ash may well cause a fire and so is not recommended!

With the nights drawing it is the ideal time to buy a wood stove. If you are not sure about getting one then consider these benefits:

Superbly efficient at warming a room

Adds value to a home

Provides an excellent focal point

Can help provide hot water or heat radiators

Provides a warm and welcoming ambience

Although there is an initial investment in a wood stove and its installation I cannot emphasise the enjoyment that a woodburner will bring. It makes winter more cheery, and is wonderful for evenings in with friends and family. And there are so many different wood stoves to choose from. At Bradley Stoves Sussex we have contemporary stoves, such as Stuv stoves, and the more traditional wood stoves, such as Hunter stoves.

Why not shop online or call in to see us at Slinfold, near Horsham, West Sussex and see how we can help to make your home lovelier and more efficient.

Stuv Stoves Selling Well at Sussex Woodburner Company

Stûv stoves are stil amongst our most popular wood stoves here at Sussex's premier wood stove centre. In the last few weeks we have sold several Stûv wood stoves to a number of home owners, and they certainly look beautiful in situ. Stûv wood stoves are often chosen by our customers because of their high efficiency, their clean design and their ability to be used in different ways.

The Stûv 21/95 stove is a very different type of woodburning stove. The hearth has a retractable lifting door that can be integrated into a building. In essence the glass door slides upwards and disappears behind the wall so that the hearth then operates as an open fire. However, when the glass door is lowered the wood stove has an excellent heat output, but does not compromise the superb view of the fire.

Stûv stoves have used superb craftmanship to ensure that there is only a 4cm metal strip surrounding the hearth, with the bottom remaining clear. The Stûv 21 was designed to operate with the glass door in intermediate position, which means the hearth can be connected to a flue with small cross-section or insufficient draught without suffering any backdraughts. So with this woodburner you can enjoy fully the beauty of the open fire whilst benefitting from the efficiency of a wood stove.

So if you are considering installing a woodburner, but are hesitant about losing your open fire, the Stûv 21/95 is the perfect solution.

Morsø Wood Stoves Officially Supplied by Bradley Stoves Sussex

Morsø wood stoves are stunning woodburners. They are beautifully made and will add value to your home. But can you guarantee that you are buying a Morsø wood stove from an official dealer when you buy the stove online? Bradley Stoves Sussex are approved dealers for Morsø stoves. That means if you have a problem with the stove then we can contact the manufacturers and sort it out for you. This service you won't get if you buy from another retailer who is not partnered with Morsø.

Part of the reason that we believe in partnering with manufacturers, such as Morsø, is that we want to provide our customers with a good service. We do appreciate that in this time of recession things are difficult, and that might tempt online wood stove retailers to cut prices, but we are an ethical company and we want to healthily compete with other retailers, especially those who do not have the advantage of having an e-commerce website. Notwithstanding this we also want to work with companies such as Morsø so that we can continue to bring the latest and best stoves to the market. Part of this deal is that we respect their pricing structure, a traditional attitude that seems to have been lost recently.

Bradley Stoves Sussex have a superb range of Morsø stoves on sale. We have years of experience and expertise in fitting these stoves, and we can do so at a good price. We are a name that you can trust and if you are spending that sort of money on a product, it is always good to go with a company that has a good reputation, is partnered with manufacturers, and has old-fashioned values at the core of its work ethic.
